    JRS Friend's Campaign Donation

    A tax deductible "Friends" donation can be made to JRS at any time of the year. These funds are used to help us sustain our ongoing programs. You can make a general contribution to the Friends Campaign, or if you wish, you can direct the funds toward a specific JRS program:

    JRS Occasion Cards

    Occasion Cards are attractive acknowledgement cards which can be used to honor the birthday, anniversary or other special event in the lives of a friend or relative, or as an expression of sympathy when sent to commemorate a loss. Each card contains a personalized message notifying the recipient that a contribution was made to JRS either "In Honor" or "In Memory" of a particular person or occasion. When you make an Occasion Card donation of $5 or more, a card will be sent to the designated recipient, and a thank you letter is sent to you the contributor, to acknowledge your tax deductible donation.

    These cards serve Jewish Residential Services by increasing awareness in the community as well as by financially supporting our vital programs.

    JRS Endowment Fund

    Each year JRS constructs our annual operating/program budget from a variety of sources, including contracts with Allegheny County and other public funders, grants from UJF and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation, individual donations to the JRS Annual Friends campaign, and grants from foundations. Support from our own Endowment (Jewish Residential Foundation) represents another vital and ongoing source of funding for the agency.

    Over the past decade JRS has come to play an increasingly vital role in the lives of many individuals living with psychiatric or developmental disabilities by providing ongoing support, advocacy and opportunities to establish dignified lives as valued and productive citizens. Dozens of individuals and families who care about the present and future of JRS have elected to help us build our Endowment so we can look to the future with confidence as we work to sustain the programs we already operate and to develop new programming to address critical, unmet needs in our community.

    Some contributors to our Endowment have chosen to give unrestricted gifts, while others support a particular program, activity or event. Please consider donating to the JRS Endowment by filling out and submitting the information below or by calling the JRS office and asking to speak to someone about the Endowment.     Special Funds

    In addition to individual occasion cards, several people and small groups have created special purpose funds to honor or memorialize an individual or for a special occasion. Funds have been set up to honor marriages, special birthdays and to pay tribute to individuals. Our largest Fund, the Howard Levin Fund, was the driving force behind creating the Howard Levin Clubhouse.

    If you or someone that you know is interested in setting up a special fund, please contact the JRS office (412-325-0039) to discuss the details. This will enable us to keep better records of the contributions made in honor of your occasion.

    If you prefer to send donations in through the mail, checks should be made payable to "Jewish Residential Services" or to "JRS."




    United Way Donor Choice Program

    JRS is part of the United Way's Donor Choice Program. If you wish to direct your United Way Contribution to JRS through the Donor Choice Program, our United Way number is 3963.
